Hello, editor Jane again.
So, as Bear Grylls starts banging wildly on the speculation drum about how videogames are harmful to children – even though Bear does make money from video games…
…(and watch him backtrack as soon as he has another media product to sell you, I swear…)- I thought it might be right to have a dissenting voice.
That sentence was too long. Anyhoo, thankfully The Guardian let me have that voice to counter Bear’s, which promotes the virtues of videogames and also relates to evidence-based research that video games aren’t harmful to children.
So here’s the title: “The Bear Grylls manifesto for narrowing children’s minds”
It’s a personally-infused op-ed article, and there’s a fairly heated debate now following it. I would love for you to get involved! Check it out here: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/feb/12/bear-grylls-manifesto-children-computer-games
